HIV/AIDS SUPPORT

Family Resources Community Action operates The Agape Center located at 1 Social Street, Woonsocket, R.I. for referrals drop-in or telephone: 762-4000.

How it works:

The Agape Center is a drop-in resource for persons living with HIV/AIDS seeking assistance with basic needs, education about the disease, peer support and other supports. The center is open 5 days per week. While the operations at Agape focus on psychosocial support with the goal of enhancing quality of life, the staff works closely with the HIV medical community in an effort to insure that consumers maintain their consistent involvement with clinical services.

Participation at Agape requires that participants provide evidence of HIV by their physician.

What resources are available at The Agape Center?

  • Case management services in English & Spanish
  • Weekly food pantry
  • Monthly personal care & cleaning products
  • Clothing
  • An HIV library and computer center
  • Meals served Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Presentations by physicians, nurses and other HIV specialists
  • Monthly Fieldtrips
  • Spanish meals bi-monthly
  • Linkages to Family services, financial assistance, and emergency shelter, Big_screen Tv lounge, Computer center
  • Nutritional counseling & Cooking Classes
  • Special interest classes
  • Linkage to substance abuse & mental health services
  • On-site dental examinations by Thundermist Health Center
  • Socialization activities (i.e. seasonal celebrations and other events)
  • Support groups in English & Spanish
  • Transportation

What is the cost to consumers?

  • There is no cost to consumers that participate at the Agape Center.
