CHILD WELFARE SERVICES

Family Resources Community Action operates a Child Welfare Division that is located at 8 Court St., Woonsocket, RI telephone: 401-766-0900

How it works:

Services provided by the Child Welfare Division are funded by the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families. Programming is designed to support children and families where it has been necessary to place a child in a community based setting separate from their birth parent/s or caregivers. Placements are made in these settings due protective concerns such as child abuse and neglect or mental health concerns. The types of placement settings in which the Child Welfare Division is involved include: temporary shelter, DCYF Foster Homes and Specialized or Therapeutic Foster Care.

The Division works in partnership with DCYF to insure the safety and well being of the children and youth placed in community settings. Moreover, addressing the attachment and permanency needs of the children served is a high priority so as to provide them with a continuing and supportive family experience whether with their birth parent/s, relatives, guardians or an adoptive placement.
