The Employment & Training Center, located at 55 Main Street, offers a variety of programming to help youth and adults with training, employment and self-sufficiency. Programs for Youth

YouthWorks411 Center

The Center, open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, provides a variety of career readiness services for youth ages 14-24.

Comprehensive services and programming includes:

  • Referrals to community resources and youth programs
  • Career exploration
  • Job readiness workshops
  • Guest speakers
  • Academic skill building
  • Grow Up, a community gardening project
  • Tutoring and homework help
  • College planning
  • Youth Plus, a credit recovery program for high school students
  • Case management
  • Leadership development
  • Referrals to summer youth programs

To become enrolled as a YouthWorks411 client, please bring the following documents:

  • Youth’s social security card
  • Youth’s birth certificate
  • Youth’s proof of address (a piece of mail, report card, school schedule, etc.)
  • Proof of last 6 months of household income (paystubs, SSI statements, unemployment, food stamps, FIP statements, etc.)

Way to Work Transportation Center

The Way to Work Transportation Center is a new resource providing employment transportation information for northern RI. The project seeks to expand the availability of employment transportation options and assist individuals with identifying and meeting their short and long-term employment transportation needs.  Click here to view the Way to Work program brochure.

Upcoming Way to Work Events & Program News:

  • Way to Work’s First Annual Transportation Fair will be held Thursday, May 20th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at One Depot Square, Woonsocket RI. Learn about transportation options and how to put money back in your pocket while commuting to work, job training and school. This is a FREE family-friendly event. Tour a RIPTA Flex bus, check out a vegetable oil-run mobile home, get bike & car maintenance tips and more. New city art bike racks made of recycled steel will be unveiled. Food, raffles and prizes! This event is sponsored by Family Resources Community Action and the Woonsocket Transportation Advisory Committee.
  • A new Pilot Evening Hour Shuttle Service is coming to Woonsocket. The program will help individuals with their employment transportation needs at times when public bus service is not available. Stay tuned for details!

As a part of transMISSIONs, the Good News Garage Vehicle Donation Alliance, FRCA is accepting unused cars as donations. Cars deemed to be in condition to be awarded to low-income families will be repaired and donated to families by Good News Garage. Proceeds from all donations support initiatives to assist individuals and families in need. Click here to view the flier.
